Oregon Association of REALTORS® Awards $4,500 to McMinnville Habitat for Humanity

February 9, 2012

McMinnville Habitat for Humanity has been awarded a $4500 grant by the Oregon Association of REALTORS® HOME Foundation.

These funds will be used by Mac Habitat for materials for the latest build as well as provide rehabilitation for older homes needing weatherization.

The OAR HOME Foundation provides financial resources to create, expand and encourage home ownership opportunities for Oregonians at or below local median income. OAR HOME promotes awareness of affordable housing issues by educating Oregonians and their representatives about the barriers to home ownership and the resources needed to increase housing affordability.

Beth Caster, HOME Foundation Board Member said, “We received over 35 grant requests this year for a little over $80,000 that was raised throughout 2011. We were pleased to award grants of varying amounts to a number of organizations throughout the state. McMinnville Area Habitat for Humanity presented a well written grant request to us that outlined how they will use the money. This is the third year that they have received HOME Foundation grants.”

Money is raised throughout the year and with two major events: the Annual Taste of Portland which will be September 13, 2012 and the Golf Tournament on July 19, 2012. For more information about how you can participate in either of these events or other fundraising activities, please contact Jenny Pakula, Vice President of Legal Affairs for OAR at jpakula@oregonrealtors.org or 503-362-3645.
